Measures of Semantic Similarity and Relatedness for the Medical Domain
UMLS-Query
is a sourceforge project that serves as a development umbrella for
three projects concerned with developing measures of
semantic similarity and relatedness for the medical domain.
Do not confuse our umbrella project with the Perl module
UMLS-Query created by Nigam Shah.
We have worked on three different projects, only one of which is
under active development.
-
UMLS-Interface and UMLS-Similarity (2008-present)
These modules are currently under development. They rely on the
Unified Medical
Language System (UMLS) to provide ontologies and
other data for measuring semantic similarity and relatedness.
We are releasing this code via CPAN:
We also have an active
mailing list available for users of this code.
These modules are intended to re-implement Snomed-Interface and
Semantic-Similarity for the UMLS.
-
Snomed-Interface and Semantic-Similarity (2003-2007)
This project created a generic interface to ontologies (Semantic-Similarity)
and then a specific interface for SnoMed-CT (Snomed-Interface, circa 2003,
PRIOR to incorporation by UMLS).
The results of this project are
described in the following article:
There were no formal releases of this code, although it is available via CVS:
Project members were Siddharth Patwardhan,
Serguei Pakhomov, and Ted Pedersen.
-
UMLS-Query (2003)
Do not confuse this with the Perl module
UMLS-Query created by Nigam Shah.
"Our" UMLS-Query was a very preliminary interface to UMLS that we implemented
purely in Perl.
There were no formal releases of this code, although it is available via CVS:
Project members were Jason Michelizzi and Ted Pedersen.
